For a while, I've been meaning to study other people's quick/"crap"sketches just to see what makes them seem so much more refined although they're so simple. Sometimes I draw things and those rare few times have them look as I intended or look refined. I've got to study, but I won't claim something that isn't my own to be mine until it really becomes mine.
Picasso said (I found this out in recent times) "Bad artists copy. Great artists steal." You keep that in mind (and in context) and you can go much farther.
